Come join us for a presentation and conversation with Jen Martinek, CareOregon Strategic Business Partnerships Manager, as she explains the process for utilizing Health Related Service Funds to pay for Veggie Rx prescriptions for Medicaid patients. Jen will use two local partnership examples that, CCO, CareOregon developed to expand food access for patients. Oregon was also recently granted a federal 1115 waiver which will expand funding for food and housing services and we will touch briefly on what that mean for Veggie Rx program. The healthcare funding world can be confusing, so come with your questions and we will try our best to demystify the process.

Using Health-Related Service Funds for Veggie Rx

Shin is hosting a work party in Milwaukie next Thursday, Oct 27 from 11:00 - 1:00 pm. We will be building Garden Beds with Roma and the team at the Garden of Giving in Providence Milwaukie Hospital.

The Garden of Giving is a community garden stewarded by the team at Growing Gardens in collaboration with Providence Community Teaching Kitchen. Neighbors, caretakers of patients, and other folks are welcome to harvest from the garden and orchard.

We'll also learn more about this program as I know many of you have expressed interest in Veggie Rx, working with institutionally owned land, and all the other intersections embodied by this program. Also, I only had the opportunity to spend time with a handful of you at the Portland Gathering and would love to share space, learn more about what you're working on, and gather outdoors for a couple of hours.
